Mouser has a new global distribution agreement with Acconeer, who provide 3D sensors and pulsed, short-range radar technologies. Its radar products use pulsed coherent radar (PCR) technology, which connects the low power consumption of a pulsed radar with the high accuracy of an FMCW system. The resulting technology provides many great advantages, including high range resolution with a power consumption of lower than 1mW, for applications such as high-precision distance measurement, level measurement, smart presence and motion detection, and obstacle detection.
The product line comprises the Acconeer A111 PCR sensor — a single-chip SiP solution with embedded radio and antenna in a footprint of just 29mm2. This radar sensor operates in the 60GHz radio band and can identify multiple objects at close range with single measurements and continuous sweeps at any frequency up to 1500Hz.
The XM112 is a 24mm x 16mm module that integrates the A111 PCR sensor and a 32-bit Arm Cortex-M7 microprocessor on the same PCB. The Cortex-M7 core is equipped with 384kB of SRAM and 1MB of flash and has a maximum core processor frequency of 300MHz.
The XM122 IoT low-power connected radar module also combines the A111 PCR sensor, pairing it with a Nordic nRF52840 SoC in an optimised circular form factor with a diameter of only 33mm. The Nordic SoC includes a 32-bit Arm Cortex-M4 CPU with 256kB of SRAM and 1MB of flash, as well as support for Bluetooth 5, Bluetooth mesh, Thread, Zigbee, 802.15.4 and ANT communications.
Also stocked is the XM132 Entry Module, an integration-ready module designed to be utilised for evaluation and development purposes and integration into commercial products. The module integrates the A111 PCR sensor and a 32-bit STMicroelectronics STM32G0 microcontroller with Arm Cortex M0+ core, 128kB of flash memory and 36kB of RAM.
These modules can be used as stand-alone devices, where customers can embed their application on top of the Acconeer Radar System Software using the RSS API.
