On the evening of March 30, Honor held an online new product launch conference. Following the Kirin 990, Huawei launched the Kirin 820 5G SoC chip; the Honor 30S released that night became the first mobile phone equipped with this chip.
Honor President Zhao Ming emphasized that Kirin 820 is a new height that other manufacturers are chasing and unattainable, “This is the first time that Huawei has given Honor the first flagship chip. We hope to make the Honor 30S equipped with Kirin 820 the industry’s first real In a sense, it is an iconic Model that can accelerate the popularization of the 5G mobile phone market.” He said.
According to Zhao Ming, Kirin 820 is an upgrade on the basis of Kirin 810. It is built with TSMC’s 7nm process and integrates the same baseband as Kirin 990 5G (derived from Balong 5000). 5G supports SA/NSA dual-mode, and supports three Five frequency bands N1/N3/N41/N78/N79 for large operators.
At the same time, Kirin 820 integrates eight CPU cores (1 large core + 3 medium cores + 4 energy efficiency cores) and a self-developed architecture NPU unit. Compared with the Kirin 810, the former has greatly improved in performance, heat dissipation and power consumption, among which the CPU performance has increased by 27%, the GPU graphics capacity has increased by 38%, and the AI performance has increased by 73%.
According to Guan Haitao, deputy director of the Honor Marketing Department, the AI performance score of Kirin 820 has reached 41,848 points, ranking third after Kirin 990 5G and MediaTek Dimensity 1000.
As the first mobile phone equipped with the Kirin 820 chip, the Honor 30S 8+128GB version is priced at 2399 yuan, and the 8+256GB version is priced at 2699 yuan.
