Market analysis company TrendForce recently announced that India’s new crown epidemic is becoming more and more serious, affecting the production and sales of major mobile phone brands. Therefore, the global smartphone production growth forecast in 2021 has been lowered from 9.4% to 8.5%. And it is not ruled out that it will be further lowered to below 8% in the future.
It is reported that TrendForce made a market forecast for 2021 in January this year, and it is expected that smartphone production will reach 1.36 billion units, compared with 1.25 billion units in 2020. Meanwhile, a higher percentage of phones produced this year are likely to support 5G, with 37% of new phones expected to use this latest network technology, compared to 19% in 2020. TrendForce predicts that the top six manufacturers in 2021 will be Samsung, Apple, Xiaomi, OPPO, vivo and transsion.
Judging from the current local production situation, it is estimated that a total of 12 million units of production will be affected from the second to the third quarter, and India’s total annual production may decline by 7.5% as a result.
In addition, TrendForce also forecast the production of mobile phones this year. Different from previous years, Huawei has fallen out of the top five in the list forecast, with an estimated shipment of 45 million units. However, the performance of other domestic manufacturers is still worth looking forward to. In the predicted list, Xiaomi, OPPO, and vivo all firmly occupy the top five positions. In addition, Transsion, whose main battlefield is the African market, is still optimistic. The manufacturer is from Shenzhen, China. It mainly produces cost-effective models for underdeveloped areas, and has a relatively high market share in Africa and other markets.
